Catalogue Note

A striking modern serving spoon fashioned entirely from clear crystal glass with faceted bowl and stem. The generous, deeply cut bowl displays brilliant light-refracting geometry characteristic of fine pressed or moulded crystal work, while the handle tapers smoothly from the bowl junction. The piece shows no visible wear or cloudiness, suggesting either recent manufacture or excellent preservation. A bold statement of functional design rather than historical flatware tradition.

Spoon Lore

Novelty glass spoons became fashionable in the mid-20th century as display pieces and serving implements for special occasions; their transparency and sparkle made them particularly popular for serving caviar, condiments, or desserts at formal tables, though their fragility limited practical everyday use.
