Catalogue Note

A striking Art Deco soup spoon executed in silver plate, the handle ornamented throughout with bold, incised chevron and stepped geometric motifs characteristic of the period. The bowl is plain and generously rounded, providing elegant contrast to the densely patterned handle. The spoon exhibits excellent lustre and shows minimal wear, suggesting careful use or storage. A fine example of modernist flatware design.

Spoon Lore

Art Deco flatware was often marked by geometric patterning derived from Cubism and the Machine Age; such densely patterned handles were labour-intensive to produce by hand-chasing or stamping, making them hallmarks of quality silver-plate during the 1920s–1930s.
