Catalogue Note

A handsome pair of modernist serving implements in turned wood, each with a tapering handle and modest bowl form. The upper example features a slotted or skimmed spoon design, ideal for straining; the lower, a solid bowl spoon for general service. The warm honey tone and subtle grain suggest teak or a similar hardwood, consistent with Scandinavian or American mid-century kitchen design. Both show even wear and patina befitting domestic use.

Spoon Lore

Slotted wood spoons became kitchen staples after the rise of non-stick cookware in the 1950s and 60s, as their gentler surfaces would not scratch modern pans — a selling point aggressively marketed by American cookware makers of the era.
